Kelowna Family Photographer: Mountain Top Breastfeeding Family Session
I get anxious before EVERY session. It just happens. I cannot eat supper before a session because of my extreme nerves. But when I’m photographing a fellow photographer, those nerves sky rocket. I’ve actually photographed four photographers this summer! Like what?? It is such an honour when a fellow photographer chooses me to document their family. An honour that comes with a huge pit in my stomach, but an honour none the less!
Once I met Katy, the nervous, sort of, went away. She is such a sweetheart and her family put me at ease. Her husband just got it; he played, laughed, made me laugh. Katy and I talked shop and all the highs and lows of having a photography business. Her little man was so adorable and could out play me on the guitar any day, I am so tone deaf!
Katy wanted some breastfeeding images, and if you know me, you know how excited I was when she asked. I would photograph the bond between a mama and child breastfeeding all day if I could. The sun was setting and created the most beautiful golden glow. These breastfeeding images are some of my favourite I have ever created.
Katy and her family were so easy going and fun to work with that we kept shooting into blue hour. Once little man had enough, we called it a night. I captured so many beautiful, magical moments between this family. They showed up (looking amazing might I add, styling is a huge aspect of your family photos), they were authentically themselves, they HAD FUN, they loved on one another. And that is what creates beautiful family images, the golden glow is just a bonus.
